help me to build pc in budget?
I don't do much gaming but Minecraft, Angry Birds, Quake 3 Arena and a few other casual games but I need some advice on if this build is good enough for 3d modeling, word processing, Photoshopping, and video production. I will be using Cinema 4D, Word 2010, Photoshop Elements CS5 and using Sony Vegas. Here's my build: CPU:Intel Core i7-2700K Sandy Bridge 3.5GHz Quad Core RAM: 8 GB DDR3 Hard Drive: 1 TB Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 6750 OS: Windows 7 64-bit SP1 I have almost no idea what I'm talking about here lol. I'm having a friend build it for me, but I want your guys' input on this build for what I'm using it for. If any more info about my build is needed, I have it right in front of me, so just ask! Thanks! Also, my CURRENT build is the following: CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 3 GB RAM 800 GB hard drive 2x Geforce 8500 GT in SLI Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OS Do you also think it's time for an upgrade?
Since you are doing 3d modeling I would recommend you sli/crossfire that sucker, a quad core right now is the best and you cant go wrong, 8 gigs of RAM in my opinion is enough.
The only problem with your friend's build is the graphics card. Its not powerful enough. The 6750 is a mid range card or lower. If you change the gpu, it will beat your current build. I have an ati 6950 (not crossfire) and it plays skyrim, MW3 etc.. on max.
With all the tasks you've mentioned, the 2700k is indeed the right processor for you, so nice choice there my friend =P The only thing that I want to suggest is you upgrade your video card further to at least this one: SAPPHIRE 100314-3L Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - $165 ($145 after have a great processor thus it needs a better Graphics card to pair it up with. This card can play ALL GAMES on high-max settings on 1080p. And also, believe me when I say that there will come a time that you would be playing those Graphics intensive games like BF3, SKYRIM and MW3, so in order for your PC to be prepared thus a good GPU is a must. BTW, the power requirement of the HD6870 is 500w or greater thus a 600w branded PSU is ideal. BUT if you wanted to have a crossfire setup in the future then it is advisable to get an 800w branded PSU. Recommended Power Supply Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation: Radeon HD 6870 x1 On your average system the card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit. Radeon HD 6870 x2 A second card requires you to add another ~150 Watts. You need a 700 Watt power supply unit. The more you overclock and tweak, the more power you will use, adapt to that, we always advise you to get a power supply that is more capable then you'll use, have some reserves, please, do not let a PSU be a limitation. http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-6850-6870-crossfirex-review/4
You're new build is fine... Maybe you'd want to upgrade to 16GB of RAM later if you'll be doing HD video editing, but 8GB is a good baseline. Heck it's almost triple your existing RAM. Just make sure your motherboard has some empty slots remaining to add RAM in the future, if needed. The Core i7 2600K is definitely the right processor for 3D modeling and video Radeon HD 6750 is also fine. It's far beyond what simple broswer games and Quake 3 need. It's also plenty for video editing, because rendering/transcoding times are almost entirely CPU-based. Sony Vegas doesn't care whether you've got a $75 card or a $175 card. There's a small advantage to Nvidia cards over ATI/AMD cards for that type of work because CUDA is more widely supported than Stream. But the trying to speed up rendering using the GPU's processor cores degrades output quality, regardless of whether you're using an AMD or Nvidia card. While there are better cards for the same price like the Radeon HD 6770, you don't need them for what you've described. Unless you're playing games like Crysis 2 or Black Ops, there's no need for a better graphics card. I simply recommend the 6770 because the price difference is less than $10. If you're planning to get into serious gaming, then PTRP's suggestion of a Radeon HD 6870 is excellent. What I do recommend... a 2nd hard drive. Maybe make the primary OS drive a 500GB with a 1TB secondary drive. Heavy-duty editing goes more smoothly when your source and destination folders are on different physical drives. Adobe also recommends that your scratch drive for Photoshop be a separate physical drive from the one where you have the application installed (in most cases, your system drive). Looks really good!
| Each formed person should love and understand art – the literature, painting, music, cinema. There are people who equally love books, musik , pictures, an opera, films etc. I cannot tell that I concern different displays of art equally ardently. At present priority for me is cinema. The cinema is a surprising art. The cinema is likely the lung for perception and the understanding, the most accessible art. The cinema is a fast art. If to read the book, week film viewing occupies a maximum of hour three is necessary to the average person a minimum. |
