So where moving into a new house in florida and thinking about getting a dog. A small to medium sized breed ( no more then about 23 inches ) [ parents dont like big dogs ] A dog that can swim and loves swimming [ where going to have a pool and lake ] A dog that can fish? ive seen some of it in videos. A dog that doesnt mind hot weather ! A dog that doesnt shed heavily [ dont wanna get too much of it on the furniture ] A dog that can be people friendly [ younger family ages 5-13 and older family 65+ ] A dog that can be a little intimidating? [ head scratcher ] yea we have little snakes [ not big ] and not deadly at all but my mom is scared of them, a dog that can chase away little snakes? Lastly one that can be bird friendly ! We have about 10 lovebirds, dont want to walk into problems.

I would recommend a short haired Dachshund, standard or mini, possibly a long haired but they shed more. I would also recommend a Beagle or if you want something that can scare them away, a bulldog. They really aren't monsters, but they do have a bit of an attitude.

i think you're asking for a bit much, but i think the PERFECT dog for you would be the pug. i have two and they're absolutely amazing pets, they're not like pets, they're like one of the family. the reason im suggesting a pug to you, is you can sort of...design the pug to fit your lifestyle, for example, if you're a very very lazy person, you're pugs going to be the same, if you're active and outgoing, you're pug will be too! There aren't many breeds like this. The only problem would be, i dont think pugs can fish.

It's activity level is high and it doesn't shed hair. You wouldn't even have to groom it. It is hypoallergenic and is friendly with children and people he knows. It also has short hair so it won't mind hot weather. The dog is also very protective and can protect your mother from snakes.

Very intelligent dogs you'll be suprized. 8)amazing hunters, mine find snakes and they let you know haha 9)hmmm bird friendly not so much. they are natural hunters, but im sure if you train them at a young age it wont be a problem.
