Is love still around, or is it only in video games?
I feel today everybody is following the old saying, "It's every man for himself". It saddens me, as it seems only video game/fictional characters value friendship, love, teamwork, and family to the point where I sometimes feel that could NEVER happen in the reality. Some parents either don't care or hurt their kids, while video game parents will battle the forces of evil for them.
I value all the things you mentioned, and I understand what you mean. I am in love, and I love all my friends. I even care about you people here on R&S.

There are very few people in this world who actually know what love is. People jump into random relationships because they think they are in love. There is a reason why over half of marriages end up in divorces. If that many people actually get divorces, then how many marriages are really perfect? I would say that some parents truly love their kids though. We just don't have all of those same challenges in real life. They take a different form. What about a single mom who works two jobs so her kids can live comfortably? I'd say she's slaying a dragon.
This is exactly how we are: "It's every man for himself". Love has never been around, except the love for oneself. This is our true human nature, that is how we are born, so we cannot call it a sin. What we need to do though is to recognize this, as this attitude is now causing deeper and deeper problems, especially as our world has become global. In this new, closed, integral system we cannot isolate ourselves, we cannot go on exploiting others and our environment, because we destroy the whole system as cancer cells do with the body. So we have to make adjustments, and base our relationships with others on new understanding and attitude. We have to reveal a new type of love, the "real love", which is unconditional, independent of our own desires or self benefit. I hope it helps, all the best.
Love is an action done in outgoing concern for another. When we feel that there is no love it is because we have not given it. Everybody wants to GET love. To BE loved. There are opportunities around us everyday. We just don't DO it. As long as everyone thinks that love is some feeling that we just "fall" into it will stay as it is.

There are people who equally love books, musik , pictures, an opera, films etc. I cannot tell that I concern different displays of art equally ardently. At present priority for me is cinema. The cinema is a surprising art. The cinema is likely the lung for perception and the understanding, the most accessible art. The cinema is a fast art. If to read the book, week film viewing occupies a maximum of hour three is necessary to the average person a minimum. |
