i've submitted movies to different websites and i've gotta tell your the easiest software i've used is windows movie maker, you upload your file into movie scenes you can add music trnasitioning effects and everything . you can get a download at and then click on the downloads link, but if you have microsoft windows xp then your computer should already have it
If you want something free use iMovie for MAC (should come with the OS) or Movie Maker for Windows based PCs (can be downloaded from Windows Update). They are both fairly complete for basic editing needs and very easy to use. The BEST video editing software in general would have to be more like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. They both are expensive and complex industry level editing tools, not generally what people are looking for. Whether the software is free or expensive, it can make movies that can be uploaded to YouTube.
